This course emphasizes large-scale organization development, roles and relationships of the primary staff, the planning, operational, logistical and fiscal consideration related to a large and complex, incident and event management. It describes the application of Area Command and the importance of interagency coordination during complex incidents and events. This course includes a final exam. Prerequisites: ICS-100, ICS-200, and ICS-300.

The course designed to enhance the participant146s ability to manage exercise programs and administer emergency management exercises. Upon completions, participants will have the knowledge and skills necessary to develop, conduct, evaluate, and follow-up basic activities and exercises, including exercise orientations, drills, and tabletop exercises.

A course for English language learners at the beginning literacy level (as determined by placement testing). Students develop literacy skills while practicing listening, speaking, reading, and writing.

A course for beginning-level English language learners (as determined by placement testing or by completion of Level 1A). Students enter with very limited skills in listening, speaking, reading and writing and develop these skills throughout the course.

A course for high-beginning English language learners. Level is determined by placement testing or by successful completion of a beginning-level course.

A course for low-intermediate English language learners. Level is determined by placement testing or by successful completion of Level 2.

A course for high-intermediate English language learners. Level is determined by placement testing or by successful completion of Level 3.

A Pronunciation course for English language learners to help students speak more accurately and comprehensibly. Course is open to students in Level 3, 4, and Advanced.

This course covers fire protection law as referenced in NFPA standard 1. Topics include legal terms, contracts, liability, review of case histories, and other related topics. Upon completion, students should be able to discuss laws, codes, and ordinances as they relate to fire protection.

This course is a general survey of municipal public relations and their effect on the governmental process referenced in NFPA standard 1035. Topics include principles of public relations, press releases, press conferences, public information officers, image surveys, and the effects of perceived service on fire protection delivery. Upon completion, students should be able to manage public relations functions of organizations which meet elements of NFPA 1021 for Fire Officer I and II.

This course provides an overview of fire department operative services referenced in NFPA standard 1021. Topics include finance, staffing, equipment, code enforcement,management information, specialized services, legal issues, planning, and other related topics. Upon completion, students should be able to understand concepts and apply fire department management and operations principles.

This course will present the candidate with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to satisfy the requirements of NFPA 1001: Standard for Firefighter Professional Qualifications, (2019 edition; Chapters 4 and 5) and NFPA 1072: Standard for Hazardous Materials/Weapons of Mass Destruction Emergency Response Personnel Professional Qualifications (2017 edition; Chapters 4, 5, 6.2, and 6.6). In addition, this series will include the Traffic Incident Management System (TIMS) training, the Mayday and Firefighter Safety and Survival segments, as well as the Emergency Medical requirements found in Chapter 6 of NFPA 1001: Standard for Firefighter Professional Qualifications (2019 edition). In this class, students will learn the importance of personal health and well being in the fire service, physical fitness requirements, safety during emergency response, safety on active fire scenes and securing utilities.

This course includes instructional content for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). This course will present the candidate with the knowledge, skills, and ability to satisfy the requirements of NFPA 1001. Students in this class will learn proper donning and doffing techniques for PPE, limitations of PPE, inspection and maintenance of PPE, importance of respiratory protection, limitations and maintenance of SCBA and cleaning of SCBA and PPE.

This course includes instructional content for Building Constructions, Portable Extinguishers, and Fire Behavior. This course will present the candidate with the knowledge, skills, and ability to satisfy the requirements of NFPA 1001. In this class, students will learn the chemistry of fire, products of combustion, different types and uses of fire extinguishers, solid-fuel fire development, smoke reading, types of construction materials and different types of construction.

This course includes instructional content for Tools & Forcible Entry and Loss Control. This course will present the candidate with the knowledge, skills, and ability to satisfy the requirements of NFPA 1001. In this course, students will learn about general tool safety, different types of forcible entry tools, door construction, glass construction, types of locks, through the lock techniques, breaching walls, scene lighting methods, salvage and overhaul tools, air monitoring and evidence preservation.

This course includes instructional content for Ladders and Ventilation. This course will present the candidate with the knowledge, skills, and ability to satisfy the requirements of NFPA 1001. In this class students will learn the importance of vertical, horizontal and hydraulic ventilation, size up, mechanical ventilation, ventilation techniques, types of roof cuts, ventilation equipment maintenance, ladder construction, types of ladders, ladder safety and raising ladder techniques.
